The AHNS offers a support service for members who are facing professional or personal challenges impacting their performance or wellbeing. This service is comprised of fellow AHNS members who have been trained in supporting others through challenges such as:
- Coping with adverse clinical events
- Negative Interactions with patients, trainees, colleagues, or supervisors
- Burnout or moral injury
- Major life events
- Other stressors
If you are an AHNS member who would benefit from connecting with a head and neck surgeon trained in supporting others or wish to refer an AHNS member you know, please see below for instructions on how to submit a referral form.
- Anyone may fill out our peer support referral form (below) and generate a connection request with an AHNS Peer Supporter. Referrals are confidential; you may choose to remain anonymous or provide your contact information.
Please note that office hours are Monday-Friday 8:00 am-5:00 pm PT. Please expect a response during business hours and within 72 hours after the referral form is submitted.
Disclaimer: The AHNS Peer Support program does not offer mental health, medical or legal advice. We are strongly committed to maintaining a participant’s confidentiality, however, an exception arises when a participant discloses risk of harming themselves or others. If such a disclosure is made, then the AHNS peer counselor is required to advise the appropriate authorities. We encourage those who are struggling to engage mental health resources such as the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (call or text 988) or emergency medical services.
