Session Description:
We intend to hear from head and neck reconstructive surgeons with “boots on the ground” in various conflict zones across the world. While their experiences will likely vary significantly, one from the other, we seek to better inform our learners about how difficult head and neck reconstructions are managed. As this topic receives little attention in national media or our literature, hearing the experiences of these intrepid surgeons should be both eye-opening and inspiring.
Session Objectives:
1) Articulate the current state of head and neck reconstruction in various conflict zones
2) Evaluate the impact and disruption of local surgeon training and how the international community can assist.
3) Formulate logistics of operationalizing a surgical mission to aid patients in need in areas of conflict.
This one-hour session is free to all registrants!
