Dr. Peter Vosler is currently an Assistant Professor in Head and Neck Surgical Oncology and Microvascular Reconstruction in the Department of Otolaryngology—Head & Neck Surgery at Sarasota Memorial Hospital. Prior to medical school Peter served in the U.S. Army as a helicopter mechanic and an intelligence analyst, performing one tour of duty in Iraq in 2003. He received his MD and PhD in molecular neurobiology from the University of Pittsburgh in 2010. He subsequently completed the Otolaryngology residency program at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in 2016. He completed a fellowship in Head and Neck Surgical Oncology, Endocrine Surgery, and Microvascular Reconstruction at the University of Toronto in 2018.
Dr. Vosler specializes in the treatment of benign and malignant tumors of the head and neck. As a clinician, Dr. Vosler is an expert in malignant tumors of the tongue, oropharynx, throat, salivary glands, and thyroid. He has expertise in transoral robotic surgery, head and neck surgical oncology, microvascular reconstruction, endocrine surgery, and utilization of ultrasound in surgical clinical practice. His research is focused on implementation of technology in the advancement of surgical practice. He is also researching strategies to decrease postoperative opioid use and ways to improve cancer care efficiency.
