A native of Bowling Green, KY, Brian A. Moore, MD, FACS, earned both his Bachelor of Arts in History and Doctorate of Medicine from Tulane University. After finishing a residency in Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at Vanderbilt University, he completed a fellowship in Head and Neck Surgical Oncology and Reconstruction at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Moore has been certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology since 2004.
Dr. Moore served the United States Air Force as Chief of Surgery at Eglin Air Force Base, FL, where he attained the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He joined Ochsner Medical Center in 2011 as the Director of Head and Neck Surgical Oncology and Vice Chairman of the Department of Otolaryngology. Dr. Moore has been System Chairman of Otorhinolaryngology and Communication Sciences since June of 2015, leading the department through a period of significant growth and continuing the department’s legacy of excellence that is reflected in its regular listing among the Top 50 ENT Departments by US News and World Report.
His publications, book chapters, and invited articles focus on advanced cutaneous malignancy, functional results of head and neck reconstruction, and contemporary treatment of head and neck cancer with a focus on quality outcomes. Along with Randal Weber, MD, he co-edited a major textbook on skin cancer of the head and neck, Cutaneous Malignancy of the Head and Neck: A Multidisciplinary Approach. Dr. Moore is an active member of several national professional societies and has held national office in the American Academy of Otolaryngology from 2014-2016 as member of the Nominating Committee. He was appointed to the Commission on Cancer in 2017 as the representative of the American Head and Neck Society.
His clinical interests include benign and malignant tumors of the upper aerodigestive tract, minimally invasive surgery (including both transoral robotic surgery and transoral laser surgery), advanced skin cancer, salivary gland disease, and thyroid/parathyroid disorders.
