I am the Gabriel Tucker Professor and Chair of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania. I have been in academic practice since 2000 and exclusively treat patients with tumors and complex reconstructive challenges of the head and neck. My practice specializes in minimally-invasive surgery of the thyroid, parathyroid and robotic surgery for tumors of the oropharynx (tonsil/base of tongue), in addition to managing cancers of the mouth, larynx, pharynx, skull base and skin. Our approach is to provide the most up-to-date care for our patients to assist them in managing their disease. We work to bring our patients their best chance of cure while working to make their function as close to normal as possible.
We are actively researching new techniques and surgical procedures and looking for new technologies to improve our surgical care for future patients. This has resulted in many publications and current NIH RO1 funding looking at non-invasive fluorescent technologies to assist in robotic surgery margin detection.
I have presented nearly 400 times all over the world discussing our research and clinical work. It has been my privilege to be very involved in the AHNS, serving as a Council member, Program Chair and currently as a Chief of the Patient Care Division
