Dr. Bur is an Associate Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery. He completed medical school and residency at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. Dr. Bur then went on to complete a fellowship in Head and Neck Surgical Oncology and Microvascular Reconstruction at Emory University.
His clinical expertise includes the surgical treatment of benign and malignant tumors of the head and neck, including cancers of the mouth, pharynx (throat) and larynx, tumors of the salivary glands, skin including melanoma of the head and neck, thyroid and parathyroid glands. Dr. Bur has specific interests in minimally invasive surgery for cancers of the throat using transoral robotic surgery (TORS) and complex reconstruction of the head and neck using microvascular free tissue transfer techniques.
Dr. Bur is a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery and the American Head and Neck Society. His research interests include patient outcomes after head and neck surgery and microvascular reconstruction, health informatics and quality improvement the quality of care of head and neck patients. Dr. Bur has published numerous peer-reviewed journal articles and has given presentations at regional and national scientific meetings in the field of head and neck surgery.
Dr. Bur obtained his undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering from Tufts University, where he graduated first in his engineering class and was inducted into Tau Beta Pi and Eta Kappa Nu honor societies. As a medical student, he was awarded as a Clinical and Translational Research Scholar and received training in clinical research methodology at Stanford University. As a fellow at Emory University, Dr. Bur was recognized for going above and beyond in the planning and delivery of patient and family centered care.
